Why the Jaguar F-Type will save the world

New. Convertible. Sports car.

Those words have rarely pleased quite as much as they do when it comes to discussing the new Jaguar F-Type. The F-Type has become Jaguar’s latest media darling, and with good reason. It’s been decades since the English automaker put out a two-seater, let alone a design as novel as this. I mean let’s face it, the predating XK line was basically the Aston Martin DB7 in a cheaper form, and it felt that way, too.

Right now in GA: 1986 Ferrari Mondial Cabriolet

This Ferrari Mondial is up for grabs in north Georgia right now.

Ah, nothing like a nice, red Ferrari. Make it a drop-top and you have a recipe for summer fun.

Something New: What it is like to own an 2013 Aston Martin Vanquish

Right now in FL: 2002 Porsche 911 C2

Ahh, 911s are so refreshing.

Who really cares about the stigma, right? Sure, the naysayers will be jealous. Those who can not achieve heckle. Let them talk as you zip by in your Porsche.

Going Fast: 1972 Aston Martin DBS Series II RHD eBay Find

One thing you may at some point be able to detect is that I am a huge Aston Martin nut. I love practically all models in the automaker’s storied history.

Well, except for the Lagonda – that thing is almost as ugly as the rest of the lineup is gorgeous.

So, every time I see a sweet Aston for sale in the USA, I have to get excited, especially if the car in question is a vintage DBS.

Right Now in GA: 1969 Jaguar XKE

Every now and then, we’ll take a look at a classic Eurocar that might not fit the strictest interpretation of what a ‘supercar’ is.

They will still be bonkers. Like this one:

For sale in South Georgia right now is this beautiful 1969 Jaguar XKE, for $45,000. This is the classic Jag – in red, no less.

Right Now in CA: 2005 Lotus Elise

For sale in California right now is a sweet green 2005 Lotus Elise. The example shown here is a beauty – sleek yet aggressive.

Now here’s the thing.

This Elise in Cali is being offered at just under $25k. No offense to the dealer, but we think the successful haggler could whittle the selling price down to the $20,000 range, all day long.

The Elise was offered in Europe for years before coming to America, much to the dismay of American fans of the marque. The Elise, which finally made it to the USA in 2004, sources its engine from Toyota, in the form of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder, 16-valve motor. The Toyota-made power center is mated to a six-speed manual gearbox.

Right Now in TX: 1998 Aston Martin DB7

Ah, Aston Martin – a brand very near and dear to my heart.

So esteemed, so heralded, so lauded, an Aston is almost never found south of $50k – regardless of year or model. The one exception to this general rule of thumb is the underdog of the famed “DB” series: the DB7.

But, this 1998 DB7 currently up for sale in Texas is a beautiful example of the iconic carmaker’s beloved coupes. Dark gray over tan leather with contrast stitching, this DB7 is clean.

Right Now in GA: 2006 Porsche 911 (997)

Up for grabs in the Atlanta region (technically the Marietta, GA area) is this cool 2006 Porsche 911 Carerra 997 in classic silver on black.

Currently on Craiglist for $36,500 the car looks to be everything one could ask for in a 911, with one glaring exception: turbo. That omission aside, the 997 is still a great car to own – like any 911 since, well, the dawn of the Porsche brand.

Right Now in PA: Black 1994 Ferrari 348 Spyder

Our maiden car feature is a Ferrari. Since the legendary Italian automaker is the epitome of supercar excess, stylishness, and pedigree. So then, it is only fitting that we start with the Italian stallion, right?

This Ferrari 348 Spyder is for sale right now at Broadway Motorcars in McKees Rocks, Pennsylvania. The model showcased here is a convertible – which looks a bit sharper than the coupe version if you ask me.

The car up for sale is offered at $35,500, though one would suspect that with some well-timed wheeling and dealing, you could take it home for right around $30k if you are as good at negotiation as you should be when you shop for a car like this.

Welcome to Supercar Super Blog!

This blog is all about undying love and appreciation for secondhand European mean machines!

Yes, they are excessive, costly to maintain, and sometimes quirky. But here at Supercar Super Blog, we think quirky is cool!

One thing that you won't find here is new cars. We don't buy into the new car hype. This blog is for people who want to buy that third car.
